Need help repairing a rod

Long time hunter and just getting back to fishing. Pulled out my old rods (most of them for the early 60's to 70's) and was restringing them when i noticed a little problem. One of the reels i put on worked fine but the entire mount and reel would sping on the cork handle. Called one person i know of that fish and he said glue it or replace it. Seeing as how these are the rods my dad taught me how to fish on,(sadly he has past on) i kind of hate to replace it but can not think how to get glue behind the mount as the cork is wider then the mount on the top and bottom. Can any one help me with this.

I know it might sound like blasphemy, but several layers of very tightly wound electrical tape might work - from a practical stand point.

You could put the glue into a syringe of sorts or one of those marinade injectors, That would probably be the easiest way, or call a decent fishing shop there are a few guys still hanging around that do repairs. It would be worth it for sentimental value anyways.

well got it fixed. not the prettiest but rod now works great as i caught 3 large mouth bass on it the other day. took 2 small screws ad inserted them behind the reel and now you cant see them and reel stays in place.
