well a 22lr can handle

well a 22lr can handle anything if you shoot it just right.
but you dont see everyone/anyone using one.. already bought
the gun it just has not been delivered yet, with 3000 bears
running around the woods i wont endanger myself or anyone
with me by having a gun thats going to piss one off. you dont see people going hunting in alsaka with a 300 win mag
because its not enough, why because of bears.

Sorry sir but you are terribly miss informed. I think I read somewhere that the most popular cartridge in Alaska is the 30-06. When I was up there my big rifle was a 308 Win. A lot of people used 300mags, 338 cal cartridges 35 cal and up. the guides I knew that guided for brown bears generally used a 375 mag, some went bigger and some smaller. Their problem was that if the client botches the shot, the guide may well have to finish an ugly affair. 3000 bears in Flordia just is not very many bears. Then I believe they are all black bears? You would be suprised to know how small a cartridge can handle them well.

You are right that a 22LR can handle most animals if used properly but the odds of that in the wild are pretty slim. Killing animaals depends on the use of a properly constructed bullet, driver at sufficent velocity to penatrate the animal and reach and destroy vital organs. Can a 22 LR kill a bear? I'd say it could IF you get it into some type enclosure where the bullet can be placed precisley into a vital organ, like the brain. There are pathways to the brain that a 22LR could penetrate if you are close enough to have sufficient velocity to penetrate, doesn't take a lot of penetration but it had better be precise and close.

The Limbsaver is a great

The Limbsaver is a great pad.
I would however be very suspect of the 70% claim.

The only thing that I know of

The only thing that I know of that will reduce felt recoil by 50% or more is a muzzle brake.

Advice

Great for hunting moose or elk. Thats a lot for a deer, even mule deer. But good for long shots.

1. Nikon 3-9X50 BDC is a great scope or 4-16x50 BDC. Checkout out ballistics chart at nikon enter rifle info and study 3x and 9x charts.

2. To reduce the kick. I would highly recommend "depending on local laws" to thread the barrel and add a muzzle break go lineal to direct the sound away from you, or cheaper option have the end of the barrel drilled as a muzzle break.

3. You can take alot of the kick out with lighter bullets.  180gr for elk 150grain for deer etc. depending on whats availale in the 300mag. The Nosler accubonds are awsome for hunting.

The limbsaver pads work great

The limbsaver pads work great but not 70%. I have several though as they are worth it. But get the slip on one at Wal Mart. made by limbsaver with the Winchester name on it for only $20. Save exact one.

I put a Vais brake on my 7mag along with the pad and love it. And despite what everyone says it is NOT louder than my other rifles. Most are but not this one. My 270wsm is louder without one.

I should have got the gun

I should have got the gun today but maybe tomorrow, I went ahead and picked up some Remington Core Lokt 180g bullets. Read alot of people saying the 180g does not tear up the meat on the deer as bad as the 150-165 grain does. Plus they were like 26$ a box and my gun dealer had some box of 150g bullets for 40$, I would rather see what kinda recoil she's got with the heavier bullet anyway. When i shoot it I'll figure out if I need something.

Still debating on what scope I want 1x something or 3x something, the Leupold has like 3.2-4.2 in. eye relief does which other brand has the best eye relief on there entry level scopes?

I still think you are looking

I still think you are looking at the wrong gun, or at least caliber.

The .300 Win Mag doesn't give you anything you can't get from another caliber until you get past 300 Yards. That's why I selected it as I know I will be shooting further than that most days.

I have been waiting on T/C

I have been waiting on T/C venture 300wm for almost 2 weeks so I went down to Sports Authority and ended up getting... A Remington 700 ADL in 30-06 with Scope for $450. I love the way this gun feels in my hands it's almost like it was meant for me.I know its not got all the bells and whistles of some of the hunting rifles but to me, I never owned any bolt action or scoped gun. This gun FEELS and looks like a million bucks in my hands. The scope has remington on it but dont know who makes it, and there is no clip but who needs a removable clip in hunting rifle anyway? Got this gun with scope and ammo cheaper than the other gun by itself.Let me know what you think about my choice and the gun I got. Also about the caliber and any tips/tricks for the first time I shoot it and Sight in the scope?? Thank You in advance
