This is my year!!!!

Okay, it's been 9 years since I killed a deer or any big game, so I am looking for anything that will show me the light in the future.  Well, I have been wanting to get a chest freezer for the garage, so that I can store my deer/elk/ whatever.

But, I always say that I don't need it, cause I haven't killed anything.  So now I am taking a different approach, and buying a nice chest freezer today.  I figure that if it sits there empty, I will be more likely to fill it, right?  Buy it, and they will come......

That's my logic, anyway..... lol

Sounds like perfect logic to

Sounds like perfect logic to me. Maybe that's a piece of the puzzle that was missing and you subconsiously did not succeed on purpose because you knew you had no where to put the animal when you got home.

I bet you could find a whole list of needed items to push the odds in your favor. Big smile

Best of luck in your pursuit

Well, I am headed to Nebraska next week for a little vacation, but when I get back, we'll have to head over there for a round or two.  I'll keep in touch.

I like your logic!! So go buy

I like your logic!! So go buy your new freezer, let it get nice and cold, then this fall fill it full of deer, elk and whatever else you get. Its been a couple years for me too, I have a feeling that since I'm not fully prepared for it i will draw all my tags and harvest all the animals i have my sight on. its a long shot but stranger things have happened for sure. good luck to you my friend, i'll keepmy fingers crossed for you.

The pressure is now on for

The pressure is now on for you to fill it.  I remember the first freezer that I bought.  It was a nice 21 cubic foot one and I got the dealer to throw in a chain saw.  I use to joke about having a freezer full of fire wood but that soon changed with a elk and a deer in it the first year that I had it.  Since that time it has been so full that you couldn't get an ice cube into it to where I thought about pulling the plug on it when there was so little in it.  But it sure is fun to fill it back up in the fall of the year.

Now go out and get a critter to put into it or at least go fishing a start to fill it that way.  One other thing that you might look into buying is a vacuum sealer.  They are a great way to seal up and freeze the meat when you get some.

Well, I've had a vacuum

Well, I've had a vacuum sealer for years, so I am okay there.  I have done some fishing the last few years, where I will end up with 30-40 pounds of tuna, so not all has been a lost cause.

The freezer I got is used, and it's only jut over 7 cubic feet, but it'll be fine for now.  Heck, you only get 50 pounds of meat off our local deer anyway.  Now, if I get a 200 pound pig like I want to get, that's a different story....Wink
