My wife and I have 2 of 10 DEER tags in GMU 2 Colorado, any suggestions on where to hunt in the unit?

It took 14 years of points to draw these tags for November 3-11 2012. Our thought is to use the opportunity to scout elk in the area where we have 18 elk pref points to use at a later date. Anyone have suggestions on where to begin looking for the Deer on public land. We were up there last week so we know the general type terrain. Saw zero Deer no Elk and lots of Antelope. Any help appreciated

Douglas mountain, Cross

Douglas mountain, Cross Mountain, or Nipple Rim area.  Head towards Dinosaur from the Douglas Mountain road.  Most of the elk are in this area, although some are resident in the Godiva Rim/Lookout Mountain area -- this is more of a late season area.  Deer in Lookout Mountain basin south of lookout mountain, east of Godiva rim.   Resident elk population on Cross Mountain also, but you probably have to hike further.   West side of the little snake in the Nipple Rim area -- head east towards the river from the rim.  Good luck.

Thanks KBmiller

I'll look at the maps more over the weekend and will likely have a couple more questions. You obviously know the area well(and it's a big unit for only 10 Deer tags). I noticed that more people applied for less total tags in this season (Nov 3-11) than the earlier season. Do the Deer migrate out of Dinosaur during the later season?
I went hunting in the unit with my Brother-in-law 13 years ago when he had an elk tag. Saw lots of MASSIVE elk but I don't remember any Deer.
