My second crossbow buck

This is my second buck with the crossbow, but the biggest buck I have ever killed. I was hunting with our daughter that morning while my husband was hunting with our son. The morning started out pretty promising. There were 4 does feeding out in the field. We watched them for some time but the never came into range. After they left the area, we waited for a couple more hours and nothing else came through. It was getting close to lunch time so we went back to meet up with the others. We left that location for the afternoon hunt and after a quick sandwich we switched kids. They went in one direction and my son and I went the other. We had only went about 75 yards down the road when a nice buck went across the road leading into the field. I was sure that he was well on his way and I wouldn't see him again. I told my son to be quiet and we listened. I could here branches breaking just off the road. I crept farther down the road and could see leaves moving on the branch where he was making a scrape. I was hoping to get a shot through, but it was to thick. After he finished his scrape he lifted his head and I could see the tips of antlers. I had the crossbow in position as he turned back toward the road. He stopped just about a foot from the road and the kill zone was right where it needed to be. He looked up the road at me and I let the arrow fly. Heard the unmistakable hit of a good shot. It was about a 15 yard shot. I got on the radio and told my husband and daughter that I had just shot the biggest buck of my life. We tracked him for about 50 yards into the ravine. We estimated his live weight around 225. We worked for over an hour to get him back to the car. Here is a pic. I killed him on October 28, 2006

Welcome aboard lady. I like that picture. You have obviously gutted it already from the look of your hands then had the good taste not to show the gore! Nice you got the whole family doing it.

Thanks, glad to be here. We always hunt together, which makes it all worthwhile. And yes, I already gutted him. We would have never been able to drag him out otherwise. We are at the top of the ravine that he ran down. More people need to get their families involved. I have one son that doesn't care to hunt, but he will still go.
