MY SAN JUAN ELK RIDGE HUNT

Just wanted to show some pics of my 2010 sanjuan elk ridge hunt, if you have never been there im telling you just drop what your doing mid september and go on a camping trip and just drive around and look off any ridge, but the best of all i promise you will never stop the sound of the rocky mountain elk going nuts at night. I pulled this tag in early 2010, i saw atleast 20 bulls a day and 3-5 bears a day I cant wait to just go this year and camp. (or maybe hunt) click the IMG00117.

bear tags are hard to draw, how ever if you dont put in you can draw either utad draw is one of the best as of now. if you only have few point you still can draw. The bull in my pic is 348 i just wish his other fifth and 3rd match he would come out to 365 but not biggy it was fun and i hope to go back

That's one thing about Utah's

That's one thing about Utah's draw system, you can draw a tag then go through the 5 year wait and draw another one with 0 points.  I have a relative that drew 2 elk tags in the Book Cliffs before his father in law drew his first tag with 11 points.

Now that February is almost here I need to gather up my information so that I can put in for the tags that I hope to draw.  But if this year is like all the rest I'll be getting bonus points again.

By the way that is a nice bull.  They  can grow some nice one down there on Elk Ridge.  The last time that I was down there was in 2004 on a spring turkey hunt and some of the bulls already had a couple of feet of growth going on.

Doing my research

I'd like to talk to you about your experience on San Juan Elk Ridge.
I have hunted deer, elk, and turkey there in the past and have a spot and stalk bear tag for this fall. I'd be interested to know about your bear encounters. Please email me at ben.schoppe@gmail.com or call me at 435.340.0232.
Thanks
