My Morning Hunt

I started hunting around the 1st of October (archery). I got a small button buck last month and have been going out looking for the big one. Passed on lots of small bucks.

Rifle season started Wed and you can only get one buck tag - either rifle or bow. So, I paid $11 for another anterless tag and took the 30.06 out this morning.

Got there about 6:30 am and at 6:57 am I whacked a big big doe. She came into the field at about 85 yards with a young doe and buck (only one antler). Dropped her in her tracks. Took her to the processors already. Good meat for the freezer.

Heck, I didn't even have time to get cold this morning. Now I'm drinking coffee and playing on the computer. What a day!

After rifle season I'll climb back into the tree and look for mr. big buck.

My Morning Hunt

I agree and think it makes up for all those cold days sitting in a stand with no deer at the end of the day. Mind you, I am not complaining about those days, but an easy hunt once in awhile is nice.
