Off On My ML Elk Hunt

Well, I am loaded up and waiting on a phone call to head down I-70 and then south a ways to Delta, and then up 25 Mesa Road to the Divide Road and then a left turn and south a ways.  That's as far as I going to admit that I am going now that the ML hunt is a day and a half away.

I'm taking both my in line .50 shooting a 300 grain Thor bullet and my .54 T/C Renegade shooting 430 grain maxi balls.  I wasn't going to take the .54 until last week when I went to the range one last time and shot it.  It still groups 4" at 100 yards with open sights and shooting those 430 grain pieces of lead.  So I just may pack that rifle on the hunt instead of the .50.  It all depends on how far I am going to hike, the long pack will get the .50 and for shorter distances the .54 gets the nod.

For the rest of you that are headed back out on the archery hunt or for those that are headed out on the ML hunts good luck to all of you.

I'd take the Renegade, and

I'd take the Renegade, and leave the inline home. I'll be using my Renegade for bear starting Sat too. I blew out my knee, so it's going to be a painful hunt. A painful hunt is better than no hunt.

Good luck Critter. The wife

Good luck Critter. The wife and I will pull out at 0700 tomorrow morning and should be in camp and set up by 3pm. Pretty itchy to get going but the wife had to work today so have to wait until morning. All pack except for those few last minute things. Good luck to all the other ML folks heading out and look forward to seeing some nice photos and hearing some stories.

It's time

Good luck on the ML hunt Critter. My truck is loaded and heading to Montana in about an hour. Bowhunting elk mule deer and a wolf tag in my pocket too can't wait the only down side is the 30 hour drive. But I tell myself that's part of the adventure.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack.  While my bull isn't in the top 10 in the world, he'll dow quite nicely.  His name is Methulasa and we figure that is at least a 10 year old bull.  Once I take a 4 hour shower and a 12 hour nap I'll get to typing out the story and post it in a new thread.

On a last note, Quinton if you are reading this Matt says to get out there and kill a elk.

Can't wait for the story and the pic! I can't spell his name, but he sounds dandy!
