My First Trophy Buck

Got this beauty here on our place in Missouri. Great one! About 195--215 lbs bruiser 8 point who is now at the taxidermist! This is my first year actually "getting" to hunt. My first buck was about 4 weeks ago, a little 5 pointer which I field dressed myself. Then over the weekend this super nice fellow walked out behind a doe and a 4 pointer. I was glad I was still watching! I knew something was up the way the doe and the 4 point kept looking back in the woods further. There is a buck here I'd love to get who I call the "caribou buck". Actually there are 2 of them, a 10 point and a 12 point. On top of each they have palmations with 3 points each and resemble a caribou! So Cool!

I find I really don't mind working with my deer, field dressing, caping, etc. My MIL thinks I'm crazy and should have my hubby do all that. What are your thoughts? Do guys want a gal who can hunt, dress and cape out her own animal? Or is it intimidating? Would you (guys) be intimidated if your female partner took a bigger buck than you?? I'm curious!

Not intimidating or weird at all!! I think it's great! I would love for my girlfriend(and future wife whomever it maybe) to be able to kill, dress, and take care of her own animals. Not that I wouldn't do it if she asked, but everybody needs to know how to do that stuff. Were already competitive in school so it would only push me to hunt harder, but it wouldn't really bother or intimidate me.

Intimidating? ... I've gotten used to it. My daughter, now 14, spends only a fraction of the time I do shooting and hunting, and tips over way bigger animals. She doesn't dress, skin, or cape them, ... but one year while I was doing the above-mentioned work, she had my video camera and was video taping (with commentary) the deer's brains (she got it in the head). If I showed the video in her school it would probably clear the building - especially all the boys. WTG Gals!!!.

I don't find it intimidating at all - my wife doesn't hunt, but she fishes and out-fishes me on a regular basis. You get used to it

Not intimidating. I like girly girls but a woman who can hunt really turns me on. I would love it if my woman would hunt and field dress animals. I dont think I would like it if she enjoyed gutting it but if she did it once just to show that she can it would be nice. Maybe if I wasn't there to do it for her than she could do it but i'm not into macho woman, so if she was always bloody from her elbows down it would bug me a little
Any chic that hunts is ok in my book though

Nice animal, congrats on your hard work.

I don't think it is weird, actully think it would be fun to hunt and fish wife my girlfriend, or future wife( I have to find one first). My only rule would be you shot it, you clean it Yes , it was the same way with my 10 year old this year when got his. 8)

BOWLADY I think it's cool I have a lady friend ,my wife got us together lol she loves to hunt fish ,and we go hunting all the time she is a real cool lady. Yes Yes Yes Yes she does all her proscesing and ever thing ,got all the tools grinders,cubers .stuffers you get the picture. lol lol lol
