My first coues deer!!

Just got back from my first coes deer hunt in Az with Vince. Super tough hunt with rough terrain, high heat, and at the end high winds. I managed to take a nice little 4x3 for my first one. Saw some others but couldn't close the deal. The biggest was a monster seen the evening before the season opened and never again after that. Huge thanks again to Vince as I could have never accomplished this on my own. Can't wait to hunt them again in the future. Next week Texas whitetail with a chance of hogs. Good thing I get 5 weeks vacation per year.

Congrats on a very nice coues

Congrats on a very nice coues deer. I also had a chance at one but my tag was for a mule deer so he walked. Maybe I'll see him next year.

Congrats on the first coues,

Congrats on the first coues, they are one of the prettiest deer out there.

On a side note, don't you know that you are suppose to go around those wait a minute bushes?

Quinton, In hindsight I wish

Quinton, In hindsight I wish I had in fact caped him out, but in my hurry to get things cleaned up and out before dark I left the cape behind. I may talk to Matt and see if he can get a coues cape for me and have it mounted after my aoudad is back. have to think about it a bit. Critter, There wasn't much going around them and I picked the straightest line back to the truck which was over 3 hills away. And I was carrying one game bag in front of me that kept my arms down low and able to get caught up. All good now though.

I know what you mean about

I know what you mean about trying to pick a straight line.  The country that I hunt javilena in is about the same only with a lot of catclaw that they like to get into.  But then in February we can usually wear long sleave shirts that defect the thorns a little bit.
