Quinton: Awesome tag! I thought I had a Colorado elk tag locked up this year with 19 points, but now I've got 20. Would love to hear how your hunt goes. I've had my eye on a muzzleloader elk hunt for 61. Would be a very fun hunt from what I have heard.

Unit 61 is very fun to hunt, especially during muzzy season. The elk are going crazy and there are lots of good opportunities to be had. I helped my taxidermist find his bull in 61 during the 2006 muzzy season. We hunted all of about three hours.

Just curious, is the rule for muzzleloader hunting in CO the same as CA, where you cannot have scopes, or did your taxidermist just decide to go without one?

In Colorado you are not allowed to use a scope during muzzy season.
