My blacktail from 06

Shot this deer on the third weekend of the season last year. About a 185 yard shot while he was bedded. He never moved. That makes five for me, this one being the biggest.

I used to hunt around Redenger Lake after early snow falls otherwise hunted north of Bass Lake in the Chequeta area. Would hike above timber line and hunt the juniper tree pockets. Couldn't tell ya how many times I stood atop Medera Peak. Seen alota monster bucks but in that open country up high its hard to get in on them without being seen.

I know the area well. Are you a native califorina that moved back east? Or does the Navy have you going from coast to coast.? Been there done that.

I was Born and raised in SE WA. Was a CA implant via Uncle Sam. No matter were I live WA will always be home for me. I was Stationed in Lemoore for 5 years. Was lucky and met a guy on a hunting forum that became my best friend and brother. He showed me the ropes of hunting CA. Invited me into his family deer camp and the rest is history. I wouldn't have had the sucess I had on Blacktail and hogs if it wasn't for him.

Nice, I was born and rised in Visalia. Only time I've spent away from here was in the Navy from 89-93 in Japan, PI, and Guam all on ships. Hunted the thick stuff here in California all my life. I have been going to Idaho the last couple of years and have eatin two tags with no salt. This year I will have a D-7 tag D-8 tag and a unit 11 tag in colarado. I should get lucky somewhere, I hope Thumbs up
Have you hunted back East yet?
Without sounding to corny, I would like to say thank you for doing your part in protecting our families and country. God bless

No thanks needed. The thanks goes to those that never made it home. Yes

What ship was ya on in Guam? I was stationed there from 98-00 with HC-5 working on CH-46 Sea Nights.

Haven't had a chance to hunt here yet. Arrived in late Nov. 05 for school then reported in Feb to my current command, then Deployed to Kuwait in July '06. Hope to this fall. Looking to book a bear hunt in Maine for next fall.

I was on the USNS Spica, good comand, skate work in the ops dept. We moved over from PI when the bases closed down in 91,92.
We had two helo's from HC-5 on board for our trip to the gulf for DS, DS. We lost one on the way back in the IO the day before we all became shell backs. No one lost there lives. They where very lucky. It was a big double blader todo unrep, we were a supply ship. Im not much on the numbers and names of the helo's. I do have it on tape.
good luck in Maine I hear they have some moster Bears.

I used to hunt hogs over in Coalinga on some BLM land. Is that the same area that you hunted them

Oh man the Spika Brick Wall,) Been their done that got the T-shirt. Smallest boat I was ever on. Did 2 cruse's on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Was there when Bush flew on.

If the BLM lands you was refering to are Conden Peak, Clear Creek, and Laguna Mt. then yes. Man that one thing I miss is the hog hunting. My best friend's boss has 3,000+ acers of land near Priest Valley that we hunted alot. Back when they issued 5 tags it was nothing to fill a book on a morning hunt. When they stopped it got too expensive for shoots like that.
