I truly enjoyed reading everyones stories ! Now matter when or how we all got started it seems that we all love this sport just as much as the next. Thanks to all that have shared and what a great post.

This was a great read into history. I also made my own longbow in Boy Scouts but never dreamed of hunting with it. I grew up road hunting with a rifle and pretty much thought bow hunters were unethical and had the mountains roaming with injured animals. My apologies for those beliefs years ago. The first bow I hunted with was my Dad's. It was an old Browning with a maple riser that hadn't been shot in years. I shot those telephone poles that were discussed and remember thinking my buddies PSE was super fast. That was 1995 and it was the only year I hunted archery until 3 years ago. Like some of you I got fed up with regulation changes and shortened seasons and decided that archery was where the real hunting opportunities were. I got bit by the bug and haven't looked back. I wish Utah had a late season archery hunt though because I hate hunting in 90 degree weather.

I started shooting a recurve when i was 10, I kinda got out of archery when i was 14 when i really started chaseing girls and only rifle hunted, About 1.5 yrs ago I bought my pse and started shooting again now this is my first year of hunting with it, last weekend was my first hunt and had a blast, put 3 different stalks on but got busted every time but it was still fun.

I just happened to get into it when I was 16 or 17, pretty much an excuse to spend more time in the woods.  20 years later, with only a few seasons missed in the middle, I am still waiting for my first animal......

How is the hunting in Ohio, I've always wanted to go

How many deer can you take on a license in Ohio?  In most western states its one deer per calendar year.  Out east I hear you can take up to 10 deer in some states?
