I'm late coming in here and

I'm late coming in here and know your back out there again but good luck to the finish. The same thing happened to my son with a bull a couple of years ago. Knocked him flat and didn't move for about 15 seconds and then was up and running for as far away as he could see him, never found a spot of blood with that one either.

Sounds like one of the tougher areas to be hunting them in for sure. And you got some of the nastiest weather in the last month to do it in.

Good luck again.

Well, I'm back to the motel

Well, I'm back to the motel after a rain/snow filled day of tring to find this antelope.  I didn't see a thing today except for a couple of coyotes.  The weather just may of had them held up in a nice draw out of the wind today.

One thing that's nice is having a warm room to get dry and warm in before I head back out on Friday for the last day.  My only problem is that they might charge me for a mud clean up that is dropping off of my truck at night. Dancing

So one more day to fill the tag then I'll have to turn my rifle sights to Utah on a spike elk hunt.

Tag Soup

Well, I am home and have my blue plastic tag boiling in a pot of water with some carrots, onions, and potato's for my soup.

This hunt was a challenge.  I had temperatures from the low 90's to the 30's the last couple of days.  I have had sun, rain, sleet, and snow.  Mud, dust, and just about every other thing that can be thrown at a hunter.  I did manage one shot and a hit or a close hit.  As I said he went down but decided that he wasn't hurt and ran off.  I also got into a small group that had a couple smaller bucks in it but I decided that the herd needed them more than I needed to fill a tag.

One thing about this area is that it need some kind of help.  I saw quite a few coyotes which could be preying on the fawn and I really didn't see too many fawns in the herds of antelope that I did find.  That along with people harassing the animals on their 4 wheelers or poachers don't help the hunting any at all.

Now with all that being said it was a fun hunt even with the bad weather the last few days.  Now I'll have to find a unit that I can draw with just a few points and start all over again.

Good hunt though

Good hunt anyways Critter.  It certainly sounded challenging, but sometimes that's really what makes the expereince great.  What's the next hunt?  You've got some other tags to fill too, yes?

I have some pretty good recipes for tag soup I'd be happy to share as well.  It can be tasty, be really isn't very satisfying.

Thanks for the good read and great stories.

Yes, I do still have a few

Yes, I do still have a few tags to fill.  Two elk tags and one deer tag so the year isn't lost yet.

Looks like you had a very

Looks like you had a very tough hunt on this one but as always your attitude is great with the outcome. That's what the true hunting is all about. Good luck with your remaining tags and continue to enjoy the time out there.

I have many unfilled tags but have not yet made the soup as I'm waiting until I have enough to feed the entire family. I'm getting very close now though. lol
