On Saturday, I went out to my stand before daylight, hung my lures and settled in. When itwas light enough to see, I started using my estrus bleat call. I worked it for about 45 minutes when I had 3 bucks come in from 3 different directions. One was a small bodied spike, one was a slightly bigger bodied fork horn, and one was a nice bodied 8 point. Actually, I never counted the points because all I saw was the nice body. I waited for him to get into range and shot and missed. It seems he had just started to challenge the 2 smallerbucks. They ran up and over a hill and he ran up the hill to my left and stopped. I had to sit back to get a clear shot and then boom, I shot again. He ran around the slope nd back up the hill and then he dropped. He actually dropped about 25 yards from where I shot him. I called my boyfriend and told him I had one down. He said he would be there shortly. I took a few pictures and then settled into field dressing. When my boyfriend came up to me, I was almost done. He took one look and his eyes bugged out. He said it was a nice buck. He also told me that it weighed between 160-170 pounds which is quite a respectable deer for this area. Meat in the freezer and a nice rack which my boyfriend is going to mount the antlers for me.
