Muzzle Brake

Has anyone had any experience with the Venturi Accelerator recoil compensator, or VA Comp as the manufacturer calls it? It is a muzzle brake that clains to substantially reduce recoil without increasing muzzle blast. I read about it in Peterson's Hunting magazine a year or two ago and it got a great review. I expected to hear more about it if it worked so well, but that hasn't been the case.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard anything about it or has tried it out themselves before I send them one of my rifles. Thanks for your help.

I haven't tried one, but I don't see how this could be possible. To reduce recoil it has to redirect the muzzle blast. If it does, it is going to be sending it somewhere other than straight out in front. Anywhere else that it sends it has got to increase the blast perceived by the shooter, I would think.

I don't know. Maybe not, but it just sounds "too good to be true" to me.

I agree, that's why I was hoping someone had tried one out before I spend any money on it. As I mentioned, Peterson's Hunting gave it a good write-up, and for the most part, I think they give decent recommendations on products and gear. But I also know you can't believe everything you read!

Anyone else out there even heard of the VA Comp??

If not, does anyone have any experiences with the Weatherby Accubrake or the Briley muzzle brake. I know both of these will result in increased muzzle blast, but I would like to know how they compare at reducing recoil on a .300 Win Mag or 7mm Rem Mag. Thanks!
