Monticello

Okay, I will start studying some maps and figuring out the best way to get to that area. Critter you have been a huge help. If you ever need information about the Book Cliffs in north eastern utah I know that area quite well. I would love to repay the favor. Thanks

I have also hunted the Book

I have also hunted the Book Cliffs quite a bit along with the Henry Mountains when they both were general season tags and before they closed them in 96.  I have also taken a 6x7 bull elk off of the Book Cliffs back in 2001 so I know the Books quite well.

My only problem is drawing a non resident muzzle loader tag for the Books, I now have 12 bonus points.

that is a problem. My father

that is a problem. My father has maximum points for Elk in the Book CLiffs. the problem is that by the time he draws the DWR will have ruined that area. They have paved a big road out there and right through prime hunting area. :/ Henry mountains are AWESOME!!!! That is the tag of a lifetime. I have a lot of Buffalo points for the Henry's. maybe next year.

Don't even get me started on

Don't even get me started on the Henry Mountain buffalo tag.

I put in for years before they even thought of having points for them then I had to move out of state.  If I was still a resident I would quite possibly draw a tag but being a non resident I am about to give up.

I have actually been looking at a couple of ranch hunts for a buffalo.  One in South Dakota on 22,000 acres and another one here in Colorado.  But all it takes is money.

preach to me brother preach. My buddy goes to S. Dakota to get his buffalo. I thought about putting all my kids on EBay to get money to get some good tags. My wife talked me out of it. Next year will be our year!

Do you happen to know the ranch that your friend has been going to in South Dakota?  The one that I am looking at is the Mickelson Ranch near Faith, South Dakota.

The buffalo in my avatar was

The buffalo in my avatar was close enough to use a speer.  I started a stalk on him from 1/2 mile away and by the time that I figured that I was close enough I was at about 20 yards.  I started to moo like a cow and make some noise and he just turned around and walked into the cedars.  This was just below the Horn on the Henry Mountains while we were scoutting a buffalo hunt that took place the folowing November.
