Redrider, Colorado has many units that are drawn each year without any points. Some units that take 2-4 Preference points are a lot better and your chances will increase on nailing a muley buck.

Hunt BLM lands near Forest Service lands at midday! They receive much less pressure, and you can see a lot further. When you scan some scrabbly BLM parcel, it is fairly obvious where the deer must be. Usually at the base of some rimrock, at the top of a cedar/juniper ridge, in a brushy or draw or some other piece of topography or vegetation. It's never easy hunting, but my success has always been higher on BLM lands than FS lands.
