Muddy Creek Campground Open?

Does anybody know if the Muddy Creek campground (BLM) is back open?  It's located in unit 40 just south of the Colorado National Monument.  I'd like to camp there next week during my rifle season from Tuesday, 10/11, through Saturday, 10/15.  I read a press release earlier in the year that they had closed it due to bears digging through trash and campsites.

Thanks!

Mud Springs Campground !

COMeatHunter,

I have not heard if it is open yet, but I would camp closer to the west end if this is your RFW hunt. I would camp right in the sw corner of the NF or over where Beaser goes up off of DS Rd.

Good luck with your hunt !

Mud Springs...right.

Thanks Quinton.

Appreciate the tip.  I'm assuming both those suggest areas are unimproved.  Will I be able to get a popup camper parked in there too?

No problem

You will not have a problem getting your pop up camper to either spot. In the sw corner there are many spots to set up and camp right off the main road.

Come back with lots of picks ! Good luck !

Cool.

I guess I'll head to the SW corner of the NF then.  I will try to take lots of pics...if I remember the camera.  Forgot to pack it last trip and that one was with the kids.  I ended up taking pics with the phone and they are pretty low res.

Stop by for some fresh elk steaks and draft homebrew.  I'm hoping to grill some up Wednesday night!

Thanks again!

Don't forget the camera!

Yeah, the camera is already in my stuff sack.  I'll probably end up pulling out to use quickly for something else and forget to put back.  I might just buy another in Grand Junction if I do!

This hunt will strictly be a meat hunt.  We're looking to bag a couple of cows to eat well this winter. Horns or not, it's still great to get out and hunt!

Thanks.  I'll post pics, I promise.

I have found those cheap

I have found those cheap disposable ones to come in quite handy at times even if they are not digital.

Come to think of it can you even buy them anymore?  But then I haven't looked for them either.
