I plan on getting into hunting more seriously, what ever i can hunt up there (elk,caribou,moose,mule deer..ect) what type of rifle should i get. Is there one rifle or one caliber to take all three or any other game i may decide to hunt. I was thinking a weatherby vanguard package but need help on setup , , is 30-06 sufficient,which optics, i have been hunting before with my dad RIP , and i want to get into it seriously for my self, getting stationed at ft. lewis soon and need to get set in the right direction, all advise welcomed thanks for your help god bless

find a good 280rem and have fun... it will kill anything you want to hunt there.

Welcome to the site.
There's two good options. I'd only add that within the scope you mention, I would get anything 6.5/260 and above that you can get factory ammo easily for. I say thay because you probally don't handload. It's not so much about horse power as it is about proper selection of loads/bullet's properly placed. Where are you moving in Washington?

I'm only a stones throw from Ft. Lewis and have hunted this area quite a bit. I use two rifles for all of my hunting in this state. A 300 wsm with a Leupold 2x-7x 32mm VXII and 180gr Nosler Accubond or 180gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claws and a synthetic stocked 30-06 with a Leupold 4x 32mm and 220gr Noslers.
The fishing is great. The bigger rivers have Steelhead and Salmon. Then, there is slew of smaller rivers and a couple dozen local lakes with trout, bass, crappie, etc...
If your an outdoorsman you'll have a great time at Ft. Lewis. Good luck on your new station.
I have to ask. Ft Lewis/ McChord AFB ship a lot of soldiers over to fight. Are you headed over to Iraq?
