Well we finally got settled in the new house in Williamston NC about a month ago. It's a great place and I can't believe all the deer and waterfowl in the area. Unfortunatly my grandad passed away a few weeks after getting here while we were striper fishing on the roanoke river. He was a great person and I'm glad I got to spend the last few years with him.

I'm still looking for people to get up with in the area within an hours drive or so. Not familiar at all with the state and r its regulations. Everything seems to be private land or gameland that is permit hunts only.

If anyone lives in or near Martin county NC shoot me a PM and I'll give you my number. I'd sure like a little insight on where to begin.

Sorry to hear about your grandad man. I live in the triad area of NC in Winston Salem. You're spot on with your assessment so far. most of ht ehunting I've been able to do has been on provate land. There are several gamelands hunting areas that do require an additional permit. Some of them have odd day when they allow hunting. i.e. Perkins gamelands over in my area is M,W,F only. THe state website is pretty good and there are some detailed maps. My best suggestion is make friends with area landowners as quickly as possible. Good Luck.
