Mossberg 810 A Bolt

Was poking around at Gun Shop yesterday and picked up a rather nice looking Gun, turns out to be a Mossberg 810 A-Bolt. I didn't know Mossberg made rifles much less with A Bolts. There were 2 of them, 30.06 and .308. The '.06 looked to be in the best shape.
Anyone have any experience with this Firearm?
I would like to have some feed back before I buy it cause the price is pretty low which makes me question quality even though beautiful Gun, but beauty dont send the bullet to where you aim and keep it from falling apart or jamming.
I did a google on it but turned up only auctions with similar prices and 1 crime involving an 810 :x .

Mossberg 810

I just joined and found this posting.
I have a mossberg 810C .270 and it shoots quarter size 4 shot groups off the bench at 100 yards with silver box winchester over the counter ammo.
I refinished the stock and touched up the bluing and it looks great.

Not a bad whitetail\mule deer and elk gun.

Murph Thumbs up

Mossberg 810 A

Just joined, so I'm sure you've already drawn conclusions about your gun. I've had a Mossberg 810 A for 30 yrs now. It's the only deer rifle I've had and have never had a complaint about it. It has been a very accurate run as well. My 1st buck with it was a 13 point 19" spread. I had a spot no bigger than an orange as a target and nailed the buck in the back of the head with one shot. It's been a supper gun. Hope you've been enjoying yours.

Welcome you two new

Welcome you two new guy's!

The 810 is probably just a later verison of the Mossberg 800 rifle. They were sound rifles but the bolts were pretty scratchy opening and closing to me. I've never shot one but did almost buy one at one time. It was an 800 heavy barrel in 243. Had a brother in law that had a 800 and he really liked it. Not a bad looking rifle! If I was given a choice between and older 800 series Mossberg and a new one, I'd grab the 800 and run.

The 800 series Mossberg's go back a long way, they were around when I graduated high school, 1964.
