Newbie questions...
I'm in north-county (right at Pendleton) and I want to try Cleveland Nat'l Forest (Palomar section). From the maps, I only see a couple of improved camp areas that are high-population areas. Do you go in through Dripping Springs and just pack in?
I've only hunted deer once, and it was a very cool guided hunt on private land as part of a client entertainment package. I was spoiled!

Haven't heard of that area, but I do hunt Palomar. I'll be up there next week, actually. There are plenty of places to walk around up there.
If you're looking at archery, Frye Creek campground is archery only, and it's got some good deer on it. There are some campers there, but later in the season, you'd probably have it to yourself.
