I was raised that first blood got choice of either Antlers or Choice meat, either way their choice. It would be entirely possible that Buck never would have come past your stand had he not been shot to begin with.
your completly right even thou it was less then 10 yards from me being able to see it when he shot anything could have happened he could have gotten spooked turned away or i could have been looking the other way and never saw him. i haven't heard anything more about it from him yet. he will be up for christmas and the skull will be boiled and ready to go if he wants it. funny thing is now that the rest of the family has seen pics she has a uncle that has never even been to our house in the 10 years that we've lived all the sudden invite himself up. i swear they see one half way decent buck and think they need to run up here. so we politely told him there is plenty of state land around us.lol anyways it's back to bow hunting in the morning hoping to see deer don't care if it's a buck or doe just need some big bodys for the freezer
Let me start off by saying I am not a farmer.
I am a deer hunter and I do own a tractor and have all of the equipment - but that does not make you a farmer any more than standing in the garage makes you a car - well, you get the picture!
Having said that - and with most of my ineptitude fairly well hidden - I do think that buckwheat is one of the most under rated cover crops out there.
I say cover crop because I see mixed results as it relates to the deer eating the plants.
