MOOSE POPULATION

So I was looking into population densities for Moose here in Colorado and I am curious how the population in unit 7,8,19,191 has not changed in 5+ years , while hunters are only taking minimal amount of Cows ? From 2004-2011 roughly the Population has had a 25 animal increase in 8 years while tags add up to 20 total in 2013. Bad Math?????

I've always thought the DOW

I've always thought the DOW publishes low numbers of population. Either on purpose, or they don't know the exact numbers.

They don't know

Hey blue... I was told by the biologist up here that they really have no idea what the moose population is.  He said that he could tell me the population of deer, elk and antelope within about 100 animals but since moose are solitary wanderers that they are nearly impossible to count.  They rely heavily on the moose hunt survey reports and they always estimate on the low end for both licenses and population estimates.

Are you thinking this could be your lucky year in the draw?
