Like some of the others I

Like some of the others I have applied for moose for many years now, somewhere around 16 or so. This happens every year and it just continues to amaze me how you could mistake a moose for anything other than what it is. I have seen very few so far but I have never confused one for an elk or deer. Hopefully the poacher was in fact caught and face the penalty for the crime. At least some of the idiots turn themselves in when it happens. Someday I really believe I will draw the tag but incidents like this just push the chance further away than it needs to be.

Not that I think it could

Not that I think it could happen to any of us, but just for the sake of conversation. Lets say we screwed up and shot a moose by accident. Would your first thought be to take the backstraps?

This guy needs a whooping for being stupid in so many ways.

Actually the correct thing

Actually the correct thing that he should of done was to take care of the animal and meat and then report it to the DOW and suffer the consequences.  Once you just take the back straps or any of the rest of the meat or antlers you just relegate yourself to a poacher instead of a stupid hunter.

Now if you are just a stupid hunter you may loose some money but when you turn yourself into a poacher all gloves are off on what will happen to you.

Have you guys seen the latest

Have you guys seen the latest from the DOW? They're investigating 11 cases of moose being killed by poachers. 14 last year. We don't have enough moose to suffer these kind of loses.

the sad part is for some

the sad part is for some species of game, itms cheaper to poach them and pay the fine rather than buy the tag.
