Jerks!

A bunch of jerks have taken another opportunity from guys like me who wait patiently to draw a tag and shoot a once in a lifetime tag.  Besides charging them with poaching, they also should try to make the Sampson Law stick and also get them for wasting the game meat.

Let's hope this is the last story like this we read about this year.

I had not heard about this

I had not heard about this and it really pisses me off as I have waited 12 years for a tag and several folks even longer. All the areas are posted with signs so I really doubt it was a case of mis-identification. Especially the fact that they took some meat from the animal. Did you hear if it was a bull or a cow and what unit? Not that it matters much as either way it is sooooo wrong, just curious I guess. As mentioned there were about 12 cases of poaching/mis-identification last year. What a waste and how stupid. NOw I will have to look on the DOW web site to see if there is any info.

Can I ask what unit it was?

Can I ask what unit it was?  it really does set me off the heart of things like this.  I have been putting in for moose tags for some years know and I know excatly where I want to go if I ever draw the tag.  To have to wait for so many years and then have some jerks come in and take one they were not suppose to could really mness alot of things up for us law biding hunters.  I have a ton of ethics...if I did not I copuld have easily shot a moose last year while archery hunting....she was 15 yards from me just starring at me....bows are quite.  But to me where is the joy in shooting something I am not suppose to.  This year whikle elk hunting I had a bull tag and could have everyhitng but a bull....that was the only thing I did not see....I even called in a cow to 45 yards.  I hope they find who did and and thro the book at them.

I had a cow tag this year,

I had a cow tag this year, and ending up getting one, but in the process I don't know how many bulls I could have shot. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Some guys aren't hunters. They just want to kill something. They have no business with a gun in their hands.

I found an article on the

I found an article on the moose poaching in a hiking forum last night.  I guess a few hikers came across the guy and he said he had shot a moose accidentially and was in panic mode.  The article states he left items at the scene and the CDOW are looking for him.

A friend of mine hunting in the unit last week said he heard they caught the guy, not sure how true that is or not.  Either way, I guess he never reported it.

Well, I can't imagine

Well, I can't imagine "accidentally" shooting a moose.  It looks nothing like a deer or elk.  If it is true, the guy probably panicked because the hikers caught him red-handed, and he was trying to get out of there without being seen.

Still have not seen anything

Still have not seen anything on this so thanks for the update. Have a hard time believing the poacher was in a panic and it was an accident if the first post about taking the back straps is true. Think his panic came when he knew someone saw his illegal deed.

I'm with you.  Innocent men

I'm with you.  Innocent men don't act guilty.  And the fact that he took the back straps and left everything else?  If it was truley an accident, then he wouldn't have touched the moose, he'd of contacted CDOW and let them handle it, the right way.
