I know this is an old post but will answer it anyways ...I don't have anything against the time it's held other than the warm weather causes some problems with spoilage ,you have to get your meat out cooled down hung and hide off as soon as possible .With the Introduction of 4 wheelers getting it out is a lot faster than years past as far as the rut goes I have always had good sucess while calling as I'm sure many hunters have also at this time there are many other factors that could contribute to an unsucessful call such as is there a bull in the area ? also preasure , is someone else calling from the next bog ,then there is always calling skills ,does the caller really know what he's doing ? the thing is to enjoy the hunt for what it is if you make a kill it's a bonus Thumbs up
