Hi,i havn't been on here for a while but its great to be back.Can anyone tell me please when the moose hunting season starts and ends in Alaska and also has anyone ever been to a place called Galena?and finally,for now,we hear of the old frontiersmen eating bacon and beans,what sort of beans would they be?Thanks

You can get the hunting

You can get the hunting season information off of the Alaskan DOW site. As far as eatting bacon and beans. Quite possibly they were red beans and instead of bacon it was usually side pork. You would just cut off the size of meal that you wanted off of the side pork and then fry it up. Hopefully somebody else will answer your question about Galena

Galena is on the north bank

Galena is on the north bank of the Yukon river.About 250 to 300 miles west of Fairbanks, between Nulato and Ruby. Hunt area 21D, The regs list the nonresident season as a draw hunt From Sept 5 to the 25th ,with antler requirements of four or more brow tines on one side or over 50 in antler spread.

You might try looking at this site,www.questconnect.org/ak_klondike.htm .I believe they were navy beans, but the list on this site should give all the info you want.
