Just a note on Montana attitude, and I hope it's still there. Coming into Helena from the east on Hwy 12 years ago was a sign. "Eat more lamb, 10,000 coyote's can't be wrong.". God I miss that state!

That's certainly something to laugh about but lions are so people shy that policy doesn't really work. In my opinion lions need to be hunted to be kept in check. I guess unless you hunt, shoot, and shut up. But just by shooting lions you happen across probably wouldn't have much of an effect on the overall population.

You are 100% correct about that but it is happening anyway. I know where I can go in the state and hunt lion's anytime I want and kill all I want. I have not done that but the door is open for me. Lion's and livestock do not live in harmony all that well and lion's like livestock as much as they like deer. I think that there should be season's year round and dog's used. You need a tag but get all you want.

The same situtation hold's true for all preditor's like them. We have two wolf's that came in from plant's in Idaho. They entered in very remote country that is also livestock country. It's illegal to shoot them. Wanna bet they are not shot on sight by parties unknown? And there is or was only two!

that's hilarious.

we say : kill it, burn it, burry it. supposedly tends to work. no bones left if you burn it in a big ole brush pile. and most of the people i've talked to about it tend to think that since you are already poaching, you might as well bait too.

I went to college in Wisconsin, a state where they basically eliminated all the large predators and now the deer population is out of control. They're like pests there, you could throw a rock and hit a deer; I do not want Montana to end up like that. Killing all the predators isn't the answer.
