A local pilot, Bob Nelson, was flying between Bismarck and Fargo and disappeared back on August 24th. Since it has been more than a few weeks now, the news cycle has slowed down and the Civil Air Patrol recently called off the search. Bob's family is now resorting to private efforts to try and get the word out and keep the search alive. As part of that effort, his wife has asked me to put together a web site ( http://www.findnelson.com) with the details to serve as a virtual flier in the hopes that we can continue to get the word out.
Our belief is that Bob may be lost in a wooded area or underwater and that there is a high possibility that he may be found during the upcoming hunting season. We're hoping that raising awareness with the hunting community has the potential to yield some leads.
The search team is asking people to watch for:
Pieces of white metal, as the wings might have broken off.
Defoliated trees, damage that would have been caused by gas from the plane.
Broken tree limbs.
Field or crop damage.
Reflections in ponds, lakes or sloughs.
Items out of the ordinary floating in the water, such as seats or tires.
Report any information by calling 1-866-492-5656, or 701-239-5656.
Any assistance in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.
