Mexican Gun Myth

I said it before on another thread -- the drug cartel issue is a bogeyman to drive other agendas.

The administration has been saying that 90 percent of the guns used in Mexican crime come from the US. The 90 percent is after subtracting 68 percent that were never submitted for tracing, Then you have to subtract the ones that were submitted, but still couldn't be traced. The real number? More like 17 percent.

You beat me to it. Yeah just saw this. Every time liberal minded domocrats try to lie for their own agendas, it comes back to bit them in the butt. I knew there was a reason I could never find RPGs or full auto weapons at gun shows lol

Nice to see that Obama has become the number 1 gun seller ever in the USA. Had I known this a few months ago, I might have voted for him Laugh

You beat me to it too. Man, I hate it when politicians throw around cooked up stats. That's not to say that 17% isn't significant... it is, just not as significant as 90%.

That 17% is account for firearms we sell to the mexican government, police, army. It's not our responsibility what happens to those guns after they get to the intended customer. If their army and police forces can't account for the loss of their own weapons, that's on their head, not ours.

I'm tired of the US and Americans having to apologies to the world for everything. I demand an apology to the USA and amends from the drug dealers and terror groups!!!!! Where is the condemnation on them?

Its the playing with the numbers that drives me crazy with the MSM and our liberal politicians.

Bottom line is that the Mexicans need to beef up their own border security. Haven't crossed the border in a while, but it used to be you could just walk or drive across without being stopped. They need to take responsibility for what's coming into their country, just like we need to beef it up on our end from the other direction.

Banning guns here in the US isn't going to do anything to help with the Mexican drug wars.

That's nothing, I read stuff on here that is just plain made up. Imagine if the headline read something like "RNC sells 90% of guns used for violent drug cartels in Mexico" and you'll have some idea of the things I hear coming out of my AM radio.

I'm not so interested in where guns in Mexico come from, but I wonder where? Honduras? Sri Lanka?

The ATF never said where the other Firearms came from other that to state that they were "Obviously" not from a US manufacturer.
The Cartels have pkenty of cash and with that they'll be able to procure weapons from many eager sources from outside the US.
When I worked Offshore Oil Boats in the early 80's we went to Mexico to pick up the crew of a disabled vessel that the company I worked for owned. We teid up to the dock and had free run of the town for the night. Only the Captain had to check in with COPIES of our passports. I don't know if that has changed since but we could have easily unloaded crates of weapons with out being questioned about it.
