LOL! I have to wonder what his plan was for after he fought off the attackers and freed his wife. Did he think she'd just jump on him for a great roll in the hay, or did he consider the fact that she might expect somebody to call the police to address the home invasion, etc?
"Yes, I'm a great hero, honey, and you're lucky to have such a testosterone-loaded alpha male like me around to protect you from thugs like this. But no, I don't think there's any need to call the police because I think my manly thrashing convinced them to give up crime and join the Peace Corps."
Jim Zumbo, Craig Boddington, Ron Spomer and Wayne Van Zwoll are all solid contributers to the modern hunting literature. Through their gifts (both hunting and writing) they make us better hunters. Whether it is letting us learn from their mistakes or by teaching us new techniques, they help us harvest more game. But I suggest looking to the oldies, the fathers of the outdoor writing craft, to learn tricks that you might have not used.
