I am so glad it was defeated! People arent losing jobs especially if they are guides, then there is the butchers and so on... But people like myself will be able to go back to Maine and bear hunt again.

Nice to see the anti-baiting ballots fail in maine and alaska. Hell of a loss for hsus and crew, to my knowledge this is the first time they have been turned back by voters in any state. Twice in one year to boot. It will be interesting to see what state falls under the radar next.... perhaps none since the battles are costly.

It would not have meant the end of bear hunting in these areas though (no more than bear hunting has "ended" in post-ban CO). The maine referendum simply outlawed bait, dogs, and traps.

In words mabe, but in real life it would be outlawing all bear hunting as here in Maine we have dense evergreen thickets and woods where it would be impossible to get bear any other way.No way we can spot and stalk them like out west. There would be very few bear shoot.

Yes we will have they hunt for a bit longer. But in one of the local papers they will try it again in the future. :(

With the vote going the way it did, with them being out voted do you think they will be stupid enough to try that again and spend all that money?

ha ha ha, sorry, i know its not really funny but these nut jobs really took a whooping in the election. they will surely re group and try again, and once again we will have to stand fast and defend ourselves. remember, THEY are the ones out of the mainstream of this great country. this was a hard defeat for them. i figure if god dident want us to eat meat, he wouldent have made it taste so good! as for me, ill be huntin bear in 10 days here in pa.

Im glad to see that it didnt pass, I'm looking forward to a trip for bear. even though we have bears right out in bk yard , I guess its the thrill of hunting in another state. With the bill passed that would have pretty much put the stop to that Cry .
