magnum magazines

I have a remington 700 BDL chambered in a 7mm STW. I can't find another clip specificaly for the 7mm STW. My question is: will the 7mm STW stw ammo fit in a standard long-action magnum clip? 300, 338 ect..

I noticed when researching clips that it seemed only one size magazine is made for all long-action magnums. they accepted 7mm rem., 300 win, 388 win, ect. The 7mm STW is a fair amount longer than any of those cartridges and to my knowledge the 8mm rem mag (same case as 7mm stw) was never made in a rifle that took a clip.

Any help would be great. thanks.

If I were you I'd check with

If I were you I'd check with Remington. Could you elminate the clip with a new old 700 trigger guard, magazine well and follower? Might be an answer and might not be doable?

Clip Advice

Hunt Okanogan

I don't have a 700 in 7mmSTW, but i have a sako 338win mag in a TRG-S and i had the 7MM STW in the  EXACT same Long Action rifle. SO i tried my old 7mm STW ammo in my 338 clip, both are extended past cartridge OAL  AND>>> it fits. There is not a lot of extra room for the STW but it worked. I don't have my calipers handy but my 338 is at 3.343" and for my old STW i can't remember, but it did fit in my 338Win Mag clip.

So i think the Long Action clips you are looking at will work, ask the manufacturer what the inside dimensions are on the clip and measure a round of your ammo to be sure it will fit. I hope this helps.

possum- Thanks for running

possum-

Thanks for running your test for me! Since I asked that question I called remington. The clip in my STW was made specificly for that caliber and is no longer in production. However, they said that a stadard long action magnum clip will work with very little room to spare. I'll have to use the original on my berger bullets, but the extra clip should work fie with ay other  bullet.
