Pits are the best pet you could have if you are the right kind of owner for it. Not everyone can own a pit and make it a house dog. Mine are.. Most people are so freaking ignorant when it comes to pits, they throw them under the bus. Just because some stupid thug down the street owns one and its vicious, doesnt mean every pit will be or is.. If you think otherwise, you should shut your mouth, because you have no idea about this breed. This dog was Americas dog for years, until the wrong hands got ahold of them. I put German Sheppards at the top of the vicious, non provoked attack list, and I have the scars to prove it. Since everyone is so smart and hates pits, go ahead and hate me while your at it.. no skin off my arse.
Ive gota agree i have had 2 and both have been great dogs. Like you said it's how they are raised. Unfortunatly I have my last one right now because of our Liberal provincial goverment that brought in a ban on them 2 or 3 years ago Shame on You! Brick Wall,)

My dogs are so vicious eye roll , I put this beagle in with them as a 6 week old puppy and they played and played... 2 years later, see any damage to this beagle...?

Beutiful dog my first one had that colouring. The bitch I have now is a solid red brindal. She was the runt of the litter and now she weighs an even 70 lbs.
Her mother was hit by a snowplow Xmass day and I helped bottle feed her. She has realy imprinted on me and talk about a suck mind you she was only a week and two days old when her mother was killed, so I gess i'm daddy mom.

Wow, thats a shame about her mother but I would certainly think she bonded with you pretty strongly being that young! You have any pics of her? DaVinci is almost a year old and he weighed in at 60lbs. about a week ago, I'm curious to see where he tops out at. Our Chihuahua is 10lbs. and he wears the pants in the house...or at least he thinks he does. DaVinci lets him do anything to him but he is never rough back, great control! lol.

i was just on here bored looking around when i found this post and i had to read it since i have a pit. theres a lot of good info on here and im a firm believer in the whole love em or hate deal cuz when i got mine bout a year and ahalf ago everybody said i was crazy to get such a mean dog and now half of them same people love her just like she is their own and the other half still wont give her the time of day. she is the most energtic and playful dog ive ever had. and she was the easiest dog to train that ive had. my mom is the 1 that really surprised me since she was never really big on having pets mom spoiled her so much that every time we go to their house she goes right to this one rug by the door and sits and waits for a treat cuz my mom did that so much when she was little. she loves to go be around people and go anywhere with us the only problem when i take her somewhere she still thinks she little enough to sit in my lap while i drive.

We had an old outside female cat that was one of the best mousers you ever seen.. When I brought max home he was around 10 weeks old. Playfull as hell and fulla himself like all pups. Started playin with Vixen (the cat) and she just didnt wanna be messed with (typical cat) swiped his nose leaving 3 nice little scars the rest of Max's life. From that day on, cat was boss!!! He would be laying on the porch, she would walk up, climb up on his back "kneed" a place to lay down, that dog would not BUDGE till Vixen got up and off. I mean wouldnt even EAT!!! Yeah they are real Killers huh!!! Just erks the hell outta me that people are so easily swayed to the bad side of things. Its why I dont watch the damn news anymore except sometimes the weather. Nothing but misery and peoples misshaps. Never anything GOOD. Rarely do you see " And this just in, dog runs into a burning building and drags out 2 year old tommy, saving him from certain death" Which has happened MANY times. Nope all you see is "This just in, Vicious pit bull mauls innocent passer bye" Of course what you dont see is that dog was owned by some idiot drug dealer and he turned it out on someone that owed him money for crack!!!

Its never the dogs fault, but the idiots that own them. Like I said earlier, if you want to compare foul tempers and relitive aggressive tendencies, the Chihuahua is about the illest lil creature on earth. Just because they are so tiney they really cant do TOOOOOO much damage is why they arent thought of as dangerous. They are EXTREAMLY bonded to thier family and just dont temper well with other people. Dont see on the news when one of them bites someone!!! But if you want to compare #s, The Pit holds aproxamately 2% of ALL the dogbites in America yearly, yet they hold 85% of the reports!!! Something just dont mesh there!!! Media!!! Period... And stupid owners

Its nice to see this post has gone POSITIVE, and its great to hear from other Pit owners, we just enrolled DaVinci (Pit) and Tequila (Chi) into some training classes...I'm going to get DaVinci his CGC and eventually his therapy dog certification....right now were just doing basic obedience with Tequila. The owner of the facility has over 20 years experience and she says the same thing we all do "Pits are some of the best dogs out there and its a shame all the negative publicity they get". There are actually quite a few other pits who attend the dog park and the doggie day care at the same facility and the owner told me in the twenty years she's been doing this she has never had any issues with any of their dogs including the many bully breeds. Thumbs up

Any you other guys take your pits scouting? DaVinci loves it, I was even thinking maybe search and rescue certification for him because he loves putting his nose to the ground and smelling every little thing he can and he also enjoys following our trail back to the truck, Big smile
