Sorry bro, just some guys sticking up for a breed of dogs that they really like. These animals are getting a bad rap because of some dog owners that train them to be vicious, attack dogs.

Well I have to say something here. The Pit Bull is just a dog. It is powerfull but still just a dog. There are other dog's I'd miss-trust long befor a Pit. The most physco and unpredictable that comes to mind is the Doberman, then the German Shepard and the Rottweiler. The Doberman lacks heart but is a super athlete, the Shepard has heart but is a brawler. The Rottweiler is no more that a Doberman on steriods. But the Pit has a heart the Doberman and even the Shepard can only think about. The Pit would be the last one I'd want to take on. The Doberman, generally speaking, can be beaten down as can the Rottweiller. The Shepard you would have to kill. I think the Shepard get's a pass because it's associated as a soldier and a police officer, German Police dog ring a bell?

I have been around only a few Pit's and all were very nice dog's. But like other's, I to have this built in miss trust of them, I've not yet found it warrented.

I have been bitten by several dog's. A Dalmation, a Cocker Spaniel, A Labrador Retriever. I've also had several attempt to bite me, to bad for them. I do not tolerate a dog that bite's. The first time they will wish they had died as a pup, the second time they will die. As I said, I've only known a few Pit's and have never even had one growl at me.

It is the purpose they were orgionally bred that get's their bad name and I don't think it was fighting if I recall. They were actually a stock dog that were put into bull (as in cow) pits to handle the bulls. I think that is what I read somewhere. To do so, the dog must have a tremendious amount of power. In this country we have two stock dogs that do this, the Australian Shepard and the Queensland Heeler (Blue Heeler). Neither have the heart of the Pit.

The Pit is not the problem, it's some of the people that own them. If everyone who had them would stop calling them "Pit Bulls" and call them "Staffordshire Terriers" nobody would be afraid of them. I don't understand the reason to call them Pit's, you guy's bring attention on yourselves, however unwarrented it may be! Had this thred been about the "Staffordshire Terrier", there would be little heated debate.

One last thing, any dog,,,,ANY DOG, is perfectly capabile of attacking and killing people. No breed is lacking for it's bad boy's but some breeds have their bad boy's plastered all over with every bite. That's sad! And no I do not, never have and probally never will own one. I do bird dogs!
