I attended the March 15 th Meeting in Shreveport, LA. We had a good turnout. I chose to speak as it was a Town Hall Forum. I support a tagging system as it allows Hunters who have either small or no leases to Hunt Deer with the Hunter that may have doe tags for the whole season through our Deer Management Assistance Program. Another point I made to the audience was that with everything that our Wildlife and Fisheries tries to do is tied to the mighty dollar and yet we hunt for 4 months for what one night out with the wife cost! I suggested that the cost of license be reviewed and increased...do you know that I got an applause! A lot of the hunters had agendas like doing away with dog hunting or doe days...mostly emotional statements that were self serving, instead of statements meant to advance the Tagging Issue. John
There are times when the deer are simply not moving and you're forced to make something happen. Maybe you're up against a full moon or hot weather. This is when a silent drive to force deer to move should be considered.
By silent drive, you're not yelling and making a commotion to scare the deer. When deer are panicked, they're liable to bust out of the cover on a dead run, and any shot you get will be tough to make.
A silent drive is different. It means playing the wind to carry the driver's...
