Looks like it is back to 74 - 75 with a bow

Again this year I was not drawn with my group of friends. banghead I was hoping at worst case I could match the over counter Elk tag with a Deer tag in unit 74 but missed out on that too. Wahoo…preference points! Has anybody been up looking around above Silverton? Treasure Mountain, California and lake Molos areas?
Last year I thought my legs were going to snap off at my knees from those damm hills. The worst thing was the kids on the 4 wheelers coming up a road I had stalked for 2 hours to get to the rim since I knew the heard was just over the top having found them the evening before. Needless to say they heard the 4 wheelers and decided to move down the other side. At least I blame the kids, but they may have heard my heart pounding through my chest. I saw those kids earlier and asked them not to come up my way, even offered to buy gas to go somewhere else…..lucky children! (The bow has a limited range) Along with it being warm until the day I left I never heard one bull calling anywhere close.
Here's to praying for light snows and rutt the last week of archery. If anybody gets out in the area I will share my scouting if they want to share with me. My next trip will be 3rd week of July

Don't know if I can help much, but I'm in a similar pickle this year. I'm a rifle hunter and drew a license for 75 first hunt either sex last year. Got to know a little about the area just north of Durango the first three days of the hunt. Then snow set in and we had to get out.

Really found two nice area's up there that I wanted to work again this year, but the tags were reduced and I did not get drawn for 75. I got my second choice of 74 first hunt either for this year. I have not hunted 74 before so I have a lot to learn. I would be willing to share the knowledge I gained last year in 75 and what little I know of 74 in PM if you like. I would also be interested in any info you may have on 74. I have been working the maps pretty hard and I have a few areas in mind to check out, but I have not put foot to ground yet.

Drove through it once or twice, but never got far from the roads.
