I was thinking that if you do

I was thinking that if you do go back to the points for some reason or another how about keeping them invisible to the members and so that only the judges or staff of the forum could see them?

I agree that there was a lot of nonsense posted here in the last 6 months and while the postings are down now I believe that they are a lot better.

That is a good idea on the

That is a good idea on the surface, but I think it could backfire.  You could end up with people throwing up even more trash because they will fear falling too far behind.

I say they just randomly hand out new rifles to nice guys that hang around even when there isn't much going on.  Kinda like that Ca_Vermonster guy, he's pretty cool....... Wink

Second the motion

I do here by second Ca Vermonster motion to hand out new rifles randomly!!!

However it should be alphabetically starting with "JT".  Thumbs up

Just might add that it be done randomly from a list of members that are currently online and actively posting at the moment that the judges appear on site to choose a winner.

I was here before the contest and Im still here after. I say no points !!! And if there are points they should be based on the quality of the post and not the quantity. Thats just my 2 pennies.

I've been around for 3+ years

I've been around for 3+ years and am not going anwhere. I've just been busy the past 3 or so months. now things are dyin down I can spend more time online playing. soon though I'll be back in the woods setting up trail cams and scouting. I liked the pionts and contest but didnt like all the crap you had to wade through to find good posts and info, the biggest downside was the repeat questions. me personally I'm glad the contest is over and the true BGH people are back on here.

points mean nothing

The points mean nothing to me.  I joined this forum after lurking a couple weeks because the posts were good information for folks trying to learn something new.  For me personally I bought my first muzzleloader this fall and was looking to learn all I could about the rifle, and knowing that blackpowder was extremely corrosive, what I needed to do so as to keep the rifle in top condition.  Although I didn't find what I was looking for regarding muzzleloaders, what I did find was a small group of people willing to tell their stories and what the hunting was like in their home area.  This was extremely important to me because I am planning a trip to Tennessee to hunt with my brother.  When Tndeerhunter posted the deer tally for Tenn. from this past fall, it was all the proof I needed that the people in this forum were genuine, and not looking out only for themselves.

A forum that I belonged to a few years ago ended up being nothing more than a bunch of guys on an ego trip.  If you posted something they did not like or went against what they believed, you were in for a rough time.  The verbal abuse you would have to endure just got to much and it was no longer fun to be there.  Also the quality of the posts were junk.  Nothing more than just the few guys that posted the most using it for their own personal message board.

As I said in my introduction post, I hope to learn from this forum, and hope that I too will be able to help someone else.  As I learn how to make posts that I can add more than one picture to, add links, and other things to make my posts more user friendly I will try to post more often.
