Well I have been up the San Diego river once on a scouting trip. I made it just to the edge of where the forest boundary starts. It was getting dark and the gf wanted to head back. I have found that the best and easiest access is through one of the cedar creek falls trail heads. The Ramona side trail being the easiest at only 2.5 mile to the forest boundary. But both trail heads are unfortunately closed to all access till November 9th. If you don't want to go that way its about 4,000 steep feet down the side of the valley, or your final option going from the top of the river which has 30 ft drop offs you would have to lower down your gear and all the was back up and a animal if you got one! The main trail down from Ramona is still kinda steep but not that bad, the terrain gets a little bumpy and wet at times, defiantly wet. you have to cross the river a few times, but that shouldn't be that hard this time of year. one thing I read is that your gun must be in a case until you get to the forest boundary! probably so you don't freak out any hiker in the area. That is about all I can think of on that spot. if you have any questions let me know. I do plan on hunting there at least once this season and since I am new to hunting but know the land I would be down to meet up!

M, are you planning on hunting for deer? pig? or just small game? Deer season closes on the 20th of Nov, so we should be able to get out between the 9th and 20th.  Shoot me a PM.

Either of you guys going out

Either of you guys going out on Monday, Halloween?  I will be out first thing in the morning up on Palomar, but after the first couple of hours, I may head over to Eagle Peak/Boulder Creek and go for a hike, see if I can scare up a doe somewhere.

Whenever you want to meet up let me know.  dmguild@cox.net. I'd love to go with someone familiar with the territory.

I normally go on Saturdays and some fridays, but I can take time off work pretty much whenever.  Sundays are usually busy with family, football and such.

We should be able to hike in where you mentioned after the 9th and before the end of the season on the 20th.

Okay, let me see if I can

Okay, let me see if I can finalize my plans.  My tentative plans are to go to Palomar for the first 2 hours or so, and then head over to the Eagle Peak area and go for a nice walk there, see if I canscare somthing up.  I will let you know.

BTW, do you have a G-13 tag also, or just a D-16?

Okay, I will let you know.  I

Okay, I will let you know.  I also may be switching up and hitting some BLM land a little further south.  I know someone who took his buddy to get a buck and a doe this week, and they saw lots of other does too.  It's my old stomping grounds at work, so I may give that a try.
