Long time reader, 1st time poster.

Hello All!

Ohio hunter here. Been reading on this site a long time and just decided to sign up and join in all the fun. Planning a Wy hunt this fall for Antelope & Mule Deer with my 14 yr old son. We are pumped. I've been dreaming about this since I was his age and figured I better get started.

Happy Hunting Everyone!

First of all welcome to BGh.

First of all welcome to BGh. There is a wealth of information in here for the type of hunt you are planning. Not sure if you have it all figured out or are still in the planning stages so don't forget you only have about 2 weeks left to apply for Wyoming.

Antelope is a great first hunt when you are learning the western states. I just started traveling to hunt more a few years ago myself and wish I had started about 20 years ago.

Hope you have a great time with your son, that is the most important of all.

Welcome!

My son is 14 this year and we'll be hunting deer together for the first time (with him as a hunter) this year as well.  it's white tail here in NY but we are still pumped too!

Hunt safe - Mike

Thanks guys!

I submitted for our licenses of both game last week. I am also in the process of looking ahead at preference points for mule deer and elk in Wy and Co. I am a planner by nature. Just needed to actually get out there now. LOL.

Bone Collector---Welcome to

Bone Collector---Welcome to the site!  If you have never been out to Wyoming before, I would be happy to help you with your selections, just in case you put in for a place or places that may not be what you really are looking for.  I've been hunting Wyoming since 1992 and if you would like to email me and let me know what you applied for, I can probably give you some help in staying with the areas or changing to one(s) that may be better for a first timer.  You have until June 3 to do that right on the internet G&F site, so give me a jingle if you feel like it!

Thank you guys!

30-06, I sent you a pm.

Also, I am paying a trespass fee for the Antelope (18,000 acre private; only 3 of us for 3 days) and am paying $20/night to sleep in a barn on a private 2,000 acre mulie spread 1 week. Since I am taking my 14 yr old son, I wanted to be a little safer on private land than on the public. In addition, it is my first time as well. We are not expecting monsters of either game, but avg trophy calaber. The memories will be priceless.

Welcome to the site!  Looks

Welcome to the site!  Looks like you have a great hunt planned for you and your sont his fall!

Just curious, what part of Ohio?  I went to college for 4+ years in the southeast part of the state, on the WV border.  Did a little bit of hunting in the Ohio river valley.  Great area.

Again, welcome, and dig in!  Lots of great info on this site to go around, and looking forward to what you have to offer!!!

Ha!  I graduated from

Ha!  I graduated from Marietta College. Spent 4+ years down there.  I still have a fraternity brother that works at the college, and he used to be a big hunter.

Man, I was just thinking the other day about some pepperoni rolls I used to get at 2 in the morning from a bakery down there on front street.  I think it actually burned down.

Small world, huh?
