Good story LI Dude
If the guy had half a brain he should be nice to strangers. Besides if you pushed a deer to him and he got that deer he would have praised you. I never mind people walking around, it gets the deer moving. You did the right thing by asking him his plans so you wouldn't interfere with him. If I run into a 6'5" 300 pound young man in the woods I would say nice to meet ya.

Rocky Point
Have not hunted there but last year I did some scouting. One spot that I remember is 11. Walked in on a old paved road 100 yards or so and then went to the left. Lots of rubs and sign. Always wanted to go back to that area but not enough time. Sounds like you're hunting from the ground. On LI I think getting into a tree is a must.

My hunt:
Went out Wednesday for the day. My son hunted about a 1/4 mile from me had a 4 pointer at 50-60 yards, couldn't get him in. The plan was to stay in until about 4:30, but after not seeing any deer from 7:00 to 3:30 at about 3:45 I came down from my tree. While gathering up my stuff I had a doe stop 15 yards from me and watched me for about 10 seconds. She turned and ran away along with three other deer. If I stuck to the plan I may have gotten that doe. Maybe I should listen to my son, Patience. Next time I will.

todys hunt stunk from the begining hot as hell out lol got to my spot sweeting drop all my stuff by my tree and decide to go walk down a little bit and look around as i was trying to cool down. opun walking from the kinda opean part that im at into the think pines i see a tail go up and bam i spoke 2 deer lol im like great so i go back to my spot. still hot and sweetie lol climb up the tree with my climber and then drop my pack all the way back down lol so i had to climb back down to get my pack then all the back up. buy this time i was just drenched in sweet wearing ovrales and a long sleeve shirt and doing all that in 70 something degrees isnt nice. finaly get up and back cramps up lol had to deal with that and sitting in a tree for 4 hours in the hot and not seeing anythign isnt nice. specially since after a hour i finished my book and then had nothing else really to preoccupy myself with for the rest of the time other then thinking about how i spooked thows deers and ihad no shoot that not at seeing anything

rocky point spots...

Ive been out 4 times thus far. all AM from sunrise till 10am. being that i work at 4pm till 2am. anyways.. i been to spots #40,38,3 and 29
40 is bordering a HUGE OPEN FIELD but tremendously thick in the woodsy area, 10-15 yard MAX view. 38 is a little less thick but not by much and i feel i could easily get lost. dogs howling all day because there is a dog breeding place right there. spot 3 is also bordering a HUGE field were on the way in i saw 3 deer running on the other side of the field, perhapps they caught my scent or me making noise walking in, couldnt tell its was like 6:10 am still very dark out. and the last spot i went to this last wed was 29. i felt .. well where i went in that spot, was good shot oportinies view wise.. what i mean is, not nearly as thick and i could see past 70 yards, but if i were in a tree stand i couldnt see nothing because the trees are somewhat small and you would be viewing all tree tops. but spot 27,28,29 seem to be all the same, alot of Hiking routes, and bicycle routes/trails so that means alot of human pressure, which could be god and bad. so far.. not good. the only deer ive seen were on that spot #3 as i was walking in, but far far away from me. i wish i had this access permit months and months ago so i could have scouted, i got the permit a week before opener, so everyday i go out, its really a scout. =/ my first year bow hunting and havent been very optomistic thus far. all this about all these deer, and i havent seen crap. i guessi gotta keep my hopes up!

Ok; it was a pretty good morning at Otis Pike saw 6 deer all does.....no shots I'll be back in the Morning. This is what I can tell you about some of those spots: 27, 28, 29 will be filled with dogs and bird hunters starting Nov 1st,
they release the birds in those open fields. I use to hunt spot # 2 which is part of that open field ........bikers and joggers all day......those deer were usually running back in or coming out to the field at dark. If you like that side try spot #6 in the very back close to the resticed area ..use to get some good action there. #32 and #31 or great I just don't know if that road is open in Oct.you might have to wait until Nov. 1st but check it out..........Spot 13 is thick but it opens up.I......I 've taken some good deer a few years back.......but I haven't hunted R. Point in about two years........good luck !!!!!!!!! lets hope we see some pics soon.
