Hey .......I always like spot 17 they love hidding in that thick stuff: just need to be ready when they come out......they always catch me by surprise. I haven't hunted Hot water street properties in a few years but I had some sucess a few years back ........check the map for those parking spots Let me know how you did.

long island hunting

Well the weather held up for Saturday and I had my first Bow hunt at #17 in Otis Pike. Nice sopt deep and thick i saw a lonely fawn 10 yds from my stand which gave me that boost of energy to stay up there a few more hours. So I sat for the morning and after lunch I scouted and explored the property for a few hours, spooked some does, but no rubs anywhere.

I look staying on LI this season, More hunting, less traveling and expenses
Anyone know if you are allowed to field dress you deer on DEC properties.
Also I look forward to hunting pheasants on LI and would like to find a good Dog trainer for my yellow lab, any recommendations?

How was opening day upstate?

Long Island Hunting

Well bow season is under way and we have been hitting Sarnoff (Long Island) 2-3 times a week. Not much movin during the day. Trail cam picked up some does around midnight. The ticks have been out of control. They are tiny too, friends wife needed magnifying glass to take 3 off his neck last week. This is our second year hunting LI and have only hunted at Sarnoff. Last year took a buck off the power lines near the golf course with muzzleloader. Had no antlers (thought it was a doe) had already shed em, but guessin around 1 1/2 yr old. Can anyone tell me if the rut has started, had seen some scrapes and a few rubs. Lookin to get my first bow deer. Any suggestions for a better location....dont mind taking does, just need to get my arrow wet and meat in the freezer.

Well Anybody get anything on LI yet? I was out at Otis pike this afternoon but didn't see anything. I tried getting onto Toppings path and Hot Water street but it's a dirt road only. I drive a ford van, no way i was going on the sand. Can soemone fill me in on how to get in there? I guess only with a 4x4. can you drive all around in there? ATV?

I plan on going back out to Otis Pike in the afternoons this week , its great because I can be in my stand by 2pm and make it home for dinner.

Gaucho...Anything from you?
