Long Feathers At Last!

Last minute switch from working Sat to now working Sunday, allowed for me to sneak out this morning and battle the madness of opening day on public props! ! ...now I member why I avoid this weekend!

Wish she stayed this calm! ...took her quite a whle to slow down...but after she got a little tired she stayed under my gun! )

Basically it was a frustrating morning...I hit [4] properties, and was cut-off at 3 of the 4!!!!! Twice, the groups jumped several birds from right where we were heading!!  One group of 8 kids, quick as they could, cut-across maybe 100 yds in front of me. ...then proceeded to jump over a dozen birds while downing 5 longtails!...I just wanted to cry ...the other group of 5 guys downed 2 roosters in my face as well.

Still...Kiwi managed to kick one up and I laid him to rest with the only pull of the trigger I had all day!

At least you got out and got

At least you got out and got one.  I just wished that I lived closer to an area that I could get out and hunt them on.  I hunted over in Kansas 6 years ago on a friends family farm and loved it but that was the last time.

Hey HeavyC good to hear from

Hey HeavyC good to hear from you! I haven't seen you on here in a while. That sounds like a bit of a drag but you did better than we did. We were in the duck blind and didn't have one bird fly within 200 yards of us. It was pretty rough.

On a seperate note... are you getting out to chase elk in 4th season. I was able to pick up a 4th season tag for our normal stomping grounds. I have never hunted up here this late so it is going to be all new to me.

Ooohh! I will PM at

Ooohh! I will PM at ya...

Been screwed by work a ton lately, so I have been doing very little of the hunting I had planned :( ...let alone time to be on the internet.

I am actually hunting up there on Big Gulch Ranch Dec 4-15 on my RFW tag. I can hardly stand the anticipation.

It sounds like a typical hunt

It sounds like a typical hunt some good some bad.  At least you didn't come home empty handed.

Our season opened this

Our season opened this weekend out here, but I was not able to get out.  Hopefully I can get out in the next few weeks.  Love hitting the pheasants.  Some guys got into them, looked like a good shoot.
