I received this picture on my cell phone from a friend of mine a couple of days ago. These two bucks were supposedly found locked together just outside of my hometown here in Dover, Ohio. I asked him if he had any other information and he said just that his friend found them but he didn't have any other details. This is a darn shame if these bucks had to die this way.

There appears to be a bullet hole in the one on the right.

Not just the bullet hole, but
Not just the bullet hole, but look at the photo. There are black zip-ties around both sides of the rack, and appear to be holding the bucks together.
I have a theory. I bet that they came across these bucks locked together, and they shot one or both of them. Then, they decided they wanted to mount them as they were found, so they secured them together with zipties.
Just a theory though. The zip ties and bulet hole do make for a curious scene. Would be interesting to get more information on it.

I also noticed the bullet
I also noticed the bullet hole and the zip ties. I thought this was rather strange as well. I know the guy who sent me the picture and he is just relaying the picture to me but had no info on the bucks. The bucks were found in bow season, I do know that much. So, I would have to ask is shooting that buck with a gun legal? I have alot of unanswered questions on this as well.

As long as everything else
As long as everything else was legal, i.e. they had tags, season is open, permission to be there, etc., then there is nothing illegal about shooting one of those bucks. They only type of law I have ever heard of regulating certain situations where you cannot shoot a certain deer is if they are swimming. Other than that, they are fair games in most places.....

To be honest, when I study the two racks for the life of me, I cannot figure out how they'd be "stuck" together anyhow. One main beam is in between the other's two main beams...odd.
These two deer were found in my county about two weeks ago:

That is a pretty good
That is a pretty good theory Sean on the mounting of them. I would have to agee with it. The back side of the racks appear that they could be locked but the front side (facing camera) really don't look like they are locked. I don't know if you can shoot this buck with a gun during a bow season. This is a unique situation but the other deer on left side must have been dead already? Interesting picture.

Yeah, all of these same
Yeah, all of these same thoughts have run through my head as well. I am really going to try and get some more information on these bucks and see if I can't get the whole story. I will let you all know one way or the other if I am able to get any information.

I think I agree with the theory on tying them together for a mount but it leaves alot of questions. Who is shooting a gun during archery? Hopefully not another guy giving us all a bad name. Would definitely like to hear more of the story if anybody finds out.
