Nice skulls

Did you paint the skulls or is this common for Georgia's whitetails?

A couple of nice deer there.  I think they look pretty good hanging out in the chair and would add a lot of character to any mantle or wall.  But I'm not allowed to do any decorating in our house, so you might want to be careful when considering my opinion when decorating your home.

You have to love the southern

You have to love the southern states where you can hunt deer for a couple of months and pick your time when you want to be out in the field.  You need to come out west where we only get a week or two weeks to get it done except for archery when it usually runs a month.  You have to put your rain gear on and leave it on from the time that you step out of the truck until you come back in that night.  I couldn't tell you the number of days that I have lived in it.  Then comes the snow and cold and you have to put on three or four layers to stay warm if you are just sitting, and then die of the heat when you are packing out your animal.  It is bad when you have to make a separate trip just for your clothes.

On another note those are some nice looking skulls that you were playing around with. Thumbs up

Hey chrisp! Those are a couple nice Georgia bucks you have there. I don't like going out in the rain either. I have 3 skull mounts but mine are all the original bleached white look. Did you paint those yourself? They look pretty cool. I don't think I would do any that way, that's just my own personal preference.

  Absbolutely great buck

Absbolutely great buck skull mounts!  I shot my largest buck immediately after a heavy downpour of rain.  I was miserable sitting in the rain but in the end it was worth it!  Don't deny yourself a good hunt just because of liquid sunshine.  Make the most of every day that you can hunt!  Thumbs up

I hunted the last two days in rain and snow both. Didn't like it much but sometimes you have no choice when you can go.

Love the paint job you did. I have many europeans and will probably try something similar with some of them. White looks great but a few different would be nice. I used to have someone who would do amazing paintings on them of whatever we wanted for 30 bucks but she retired and doesn't do it anymore. When I priced it from another shop they wanted 250 for the same type of work.!!

Chrisp, those look pretty

Chrisp, those look pretty cool and would look nice on the wall. I have a few hanging around the house but just the traditional cap with hair or bleeched. Hunting the rain is no fun but as several others said no real choice here in Colorado with only 10 days to hunt. I would perfer snow to rain but have no choice in that matter. Anyways good luck and hope you can get back out in the woods soon.

I prefer to hunt when the

I prefer to hunt when the rain is coming down and the wind is blowing thats when I seem to see the most deer in my area. I've noticed if i hunt when the weather is nice I won't see much in the way of deer but when the weather gets nasty the deer start to move around. It sucks being out in the crappy weather however with a good set of rain gear and a good mind set you can be very sucessfull. I like what you've done with the skull you got there. Those are some nice Euro mounts. With our weather out here turning nasty and cold I'm getting pumped up for my late season archery blacktail hunt. I have one month and 8 days to wait. I don't know if I can make it that long so I'm going to get out there this weekend for some bear hunting. I've been eyeing a area with some great bear sign. The tracks I've found are 2.5" wider than a 30-06 shell. Should be a nice bear. Good luck and hopefully you can get back out there soon.

Very cool!  I have not seen

Very cool!  I have not seen that product before.  I usually am not too big on European mounts, but this, and another kind I have seen are making me reconsider.  I saw one guy that was doing bear skulls in certain metals, like copper or a peuter color.  They looked great.

Nice job on the skulls.  Couple of great bucks there too.  Good for Georgia deer, anyway.... Wink
