Lions without hounds

My brother and I are planning on hunting cougars in colorado during December. We are not however going to be using hounds. I am going to assume that predator calling could prove beneficial. As well I am guessing that snow will be nearly essential.

Has anybody ever tried this type of cougar hunting or just have some suggestions. We know that the odds are astronomically against us but it should be fun. Thanks in advance for the help.

In good cougar country, I would concentrate on fawn in distress and expect long sets. I would imagine like bobcats they would stalk in slow and stealthy. Never done it myself, but have read they do come into calls at times.

I've never done it but I would think calling in a big cat would be tough, when they are in hunt mode they are low and stealthy....might be hard to spot them coming in. Keep us posted on how you do.

We are both college students and therefore won't be hunting until Xmas break in December. We're hoping for snow so that we can locate their movement. Hopefully if it were snowy it would force them to hunt/be more active during the day.

Track them out in the snow and be ready when you get to the rocks!! Glass hard and you might see them first.

What is thier key sense. Obviously being such expert hunters all their senses must be keen but do they rely on any once (sent?) more than others.
