Lets see your Muledeer/Blacktail!

went out scouting the same area i took the non-typical in last year http://www.boone-crockett.org/news/trophyWatch.asp?area=news
and counted 22 bucks during 3 hours of looking around, horn growth seems to be great this year and i saw 4 shooters. They were all in bachelor groups of 3-7 deer, even the small bucks had nice heavy antlers and i saw many with kicker points and one small drop tine.We had a ton of rain early this year and it has a direct effect on horn growth here in MT.Anyone else been seeing nice MD bucks yet? Think

The mule deer are looking mighty fine up here in northwest Colorado!!

Both my husband and I have commented several times over the past month, that the racks seem larger and many more deer with nice large racks. Need to remember to take my camera, every time I've seen them - no camera! Or its been too dark.

Generally it feels like the mule deer population has rebounded nicely. Not sure what the official stats are, but they seem to be more plentiful than just a couple years ago.

Oh yeah, we have some deer hanging around our yard right now too Big smile we have crabapple trees, & they love those crabapples! Most of the deer that come in are does, but we've had a few bucks and one really awesome buck. In fact I can usually see him from my window when I'm typing here on my PC! One of our crabs is right outside that window. There have been a few times when I shut off all the lights (and the PC!) when we've been practically nose to nose through the screen window.

Okay, I'll post my buck ... 4 x 4, Unit 14, 2005 ... not as big as your-guyzez. This is what they look like in at least this portion of Idaho 14. Got him on opening morning. I'm not sure why we didn't strive for a better pic - but the steepness of terrain had us in somewhat of a panic.

I'll post my daughter's buck next.

Here's my daughters buck 2003, Unit 14, 5 x 5, same area as my buck, prev post. She has me beat ... She drilled this guy thru the neck at 200 yards. (It was looking at us with only head and neck showing - I said she could take the shot if she felt good about it.) She is age 12 in this pic. This year she drilled a 4 x 4 whitetail at 250 yards, difficult shot - only top half of buck showing. It's on the whitetail forum at the end of the `using small bucks to draw fire'.

I missed my buck the first five shots - my buddy suggested we go back and get my daughter to get the job done. But shot # 6 found home.
