Finally got a picture scanned

Story is back on the first page, and finally found this picture last Christmas and had been meaning to share it here.  And since someone resurrected this thread, I may as well bring it back up:

I really regret not having field photos of most of my firsts.  This is really probably my worst "mighty hunter photo" looking like a cancer boy in a garage.  But I was dang proud of that bull

Great subject

An old elk guide like me honestly enjoys seeing so many pics of first bulls, nothing like being there on the harvest of the first one.  I have been blessed with so many firsts.  In my business the opportunity to take people on their first, and guiding them to their first is what it is all about.  I have had the joy of taking 70 yr old gentlemen to their first and also the wonder of a 12 yr old and almost all ages inbetween, and there is nothing to compare to it.  So thanks to all for the stories its great to see

Hawkeye, great story & we

Hawkeye, great story & we can't wait for the pic. I never heard the story about cutting someone's hat bill off b/c they missed a bull/animal while hunting. Here, the tradition has always been to cut their shirttail off if they missed a buck/animal. I missed my first buck when I was 12 yrs old while hunting with my uncle. Wouldn't you know, I was wearing a brand new camoflauge shirt my mother had bought me before the hunt. My uncle didn't care it was a new shirt and cut it like it was his son's shirt. Boy was my mother pissed! She laughed later, though.

Ex, you know it's a shame you didn't get a pic in the field but the smile on your face tells it all!

Ole bugler, you may have the best job of all. Like you said, you get to see many first's each year. The older I get, the more I appreciate the simpler things in life. I can't express the satisfaction I get when I help a first time hunter meet their goal of harvesting their first buck. It's an awesome experience.

Congrats everyone on your first bull. Good hunting this year as I, regretably, will not make it to Colorado to hunt this year. The economy has gotten the best of me. I can't see spending the money for the trip in these uncertain times. Good luck everyone and I looked forward to hearing all the stories & seeing the pics of your successes. Good hunting.

I wish I had one!

I don't have any pic's of my first deer in fact for the first 10 years I hunted we never took pictures at all and now kicking my self. Where I grew up on the farm it was nothing for us to shoot 5x5 bucks every year and it was no big deal we'd cut the horns off and let the dogs chew them, now if I seen a dog chewing a set 150's I would crap!

This thread has been a really

This thread has been a really great read, really made work fly by!...don't tell my boss that though :rotest1   Here's the link to my first elk that I killed in 08' in New Mexico.  It was a trip that I will never forget, hopefully next year I'll be after the elk again....waiting on my hunting buddy to get enough vacation time to do another trip.

You didn't get any speeding tickets on the way to New Mexico, did you?

Nope, I might have been guilty of going a little over the limit a few times but we made it down & back without incident.

Thanks for the kind words fellas!
